SPY SPLITPAIR

A continuity test tells you the connections are correct. It cannot tell you about the crosstalk caused by a split pair — one wire from each of two different pairs swapped at both ends. The cable passes, then the link underperforms. SPY SPLITPAIR is built to catch exactly that fault, and to qualify UTP and STP twisted pair properly.

Test Modes

From Pre-Test to Fault Isolation

Full test

Starts with a voltage check to protect the tester, then scans each twisted pair automatically. Each pair LED reads on, off or flashing — good pair, open, or bad pair.

One-ended pre-test

Run it the moment one end is terminated. You learn which end carries the split pair, then attach a remote and go straight to a full test once the far end is done.

Debug mode

Isolates and diagnoses a single specific pair when the full scan has narrowed the problem down.

Tone mode

Sends a high or low tone on an individual pin, a pair, or all pins simultaneously to locate a wire break or trace a run with a probe.

Features

PK-3456E — Hub Blink Mode

The E models add a hub blink mode that identifies an active hub, switch or router port and verifies whether a particular port or jack is carrying live Ethernet service. A link LED shows whether the drop is on an active network, so an unknown RJ45 outlet can be located and identified quickly.

Coaxial Testing

For coaxial cable with F connectors, use RJ45-to-F adapters with the tester and remotes.
